We use organically grown cotton to make our products because sustainable, environmentally friendly fabric is both good for you and good for the planet.
It is free of both the toxic pesticides (insecticides, herbicides and fungicides) used to grow conventional cotton as well as toxic manufacturing agents (chemicals, oils and waxes) used to produce conventional cotton items.
Organic cotton will help improve the planet by improving the health of the soil, ground water, wildlife, domestic animals, farm-workers and entire communities that depend on agriculture for their livelihood.
By making this purchase, you are helping to support conscientious farming communities who have been growing cotton without harmful chemicals for years. Their natural process supports biodiversity and healthy ecosystems because it often uses fewer natural resources. The elimination of polluting and nitrogen leaching chemicals, done in combination with soil building, protects and conserves our water resources. Growing organic cotton can actually replenish and maintain soil fertility, improving land quality and our planet in general. Farming organic cotton is also much safer for those men and woman who harvest it.
You can make a difference in the environment today. So why not help replenish our planet and safeguard its future abundance!
Swarovski Crystals
Our reusable market bags are decorated with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. More and more people are getting the message that the choices they make in their daily lives can have a real impact on the Earth.
One of the many areas in which you can make more environmentally sound choices is in your jewelry purchases. Swarovski crystals are manmade so they avoid some environmental concerns such as the damage done to the environment by mining.
The Swarovski company was the first jewelry-making company to make use of an automatic crystal cutting machine in 1892. The company uses their comprehensive knowledge and extraordinary experience of crystal forming and cutting techniques to create a solid line of optical products like crystals.
No More Plastic Bags!
Plastic bags are bad for the environment because they are made from petroleum, are typically tossed after one use, fill landfills, and float into trees, rooftops, roadways and oceans. Once they make their way to rivers and oceans, they choke and kill wildlife. They also do not break down easily in a landfill.
Americans use and dispose of at least 100 billion bags every year (this number might even be higher!). You think that number's high? Try 4 trillion to 5 trillion of non-degradable plastic bags are used worldwide annually. So, isn't it sad that the bags, which have only a brief, useful life, can survive forever in landfills and are of enormous concern to not only environmentalists but local officials who are running out of places to put their trash?
Plastic grocery bags might be made from more natural gas than petroleum, BUT natural gas is not a renewable resource and contributes to global warming. And about only 5 percent of all plastic bags are recycled nationwide. So what's the solution? Reuse! Reuse! Reuse!
Whole Foods already banned the use of plastic bags. They offer their customers the choice between recycled paper or reusable bags. Smart move Whole Foods! Ikea banned them too. Thank you Ikea! Other stores such as Publix and Wal-Mart are now selling reusable bags in an effort to gear people away from the use of plastic bags. As you can see, plastic bags are on the way out - and with good reason.
If you are wondering how you can help, you can contribute by doing something so simple. Take our reusable bag with you the next time you visit your grocery store. It's as easy as that!
